Mission Statement
“MY EYES” is a story about empathy, accessibility, and human connection a tribute to those often unseen or unheard. The film honors blind and low-vision individuals, as well as LGBTQ+ communities, celebrating respect and inclusion for all.
“Some people live in darkness their whole lives
and still, they see more than the rest of us.”
A story about loss, connection, and the moment two strangers find each other in the dark.
ERIC, a quiet, introverted programmer in Seattle, is drowning in the grief of losing his lifelong best friend, the only person he ever felt truly close to. Once steady and dry-humored, he now moves through his days in silence, avoiding calls and shutting the world out as the emptiness settles around him.
SARA, a blind woman navigating her world with resilience and sharp intuition, carries her own quiet fears, especially the fear of being a burden in a sighted world. She approaches life with warmth and determination, but loneliness still shadows her days.
One evening, through a volunteer app that connects sighted helpers with blind users, Eric receives a call from Sara asking for help with a simple task. But as he guides her through her unseen world, an unexpected bond forms between them, one built on listening, vulnerability, and the simple courage to let someone in.
Over a single night of calls, broken silences, and flashes of emotional honesty, Eric and Sara begin to confront the weight they’ve both been carrying: his unresolved grief… and her fear of needing too much.
And in that fragile connection, voice to voice, stranger to stranger, they discover that sometimes healing begins with one human whisper saying, “I’m here.”
Themes: grief • healing • perception vs. reality • loneliness • connection across distance • light in the dark

Welcome to my official website
I’m Eric Bakhshi / writer and director.
With more than twenty years of experience in storytelling, I’ve always been drawn to narratives that explore humanity, vulnerability, and the quiet connections that shape us. My children’s books: Amara and the Escape Basket, The Hungry Bear and the Sweetest Friendship, and Firefighters Mission: Monkey Rescue, are published on Amazon, and for years I’ve created animation and educational content for children through my studio, @Pinemacaron, which now has over 500,000 subscribers on YouTube.
In my filmmaking journey, I’ve continued exploring emotional, character-driven stories. My short film Whispers of Loss delves into the heartbreaking world of mothers who have lost their children, while The Imagined Realities focuses on the deep, imaginative bond between a child and a mother. I’m now preparing several feature-length projects, each rooted in the same values that guide my work.
But MY EYES began from a far more personal place.
One day, my friend Houman told me about his first experience using the Be My Eyes app, a simple call that unexpectedly shook him. In just a few minutes, he had stepped into a world he could not see, but deeply felt. That story stayed with me. It raised questions I couldn’t ignore:
What does “seeing” truly mean? What does loneliness look like for someone navigating the world without sight? And how can a single human voice turn into a lifeline?
Those questions became the heart of this film.
MY EYES represents everything I care about as a filmmaker: empathy, accessibility, honest emotional connection, and giving space to voices that are often unseen or unheard. This is a story that aims to open hearts, shift perspective, and remind us of the quiet power of simply being present for another human being.
Why THIs Film
Grief, loneliness, and unspoken memories can make life feel impossibly heavy. MY EYES shows how a single moment of human connection can pierce
that darkness, even for someone who thought they were done feeling anything at all.

Why Now?
In a world where technology often replaces real human connection, it’s easy to feel alone even when we’re “connected.”
MY EYES shows how a single phone call, on an ordinary night, can become a lifeline.
This film explores empathy, accessibility, and the quiet power of simply being present for another human being.
Representation & Community Connection
MY EYES is rooted in two communities whose stories are often quieted or overlooked:
the LGBTQ+ community, and blind/low-vision individuals who move through a world not built for them.
Eric is a queer man grieving the loss of the person he loved not just a partner, but the one who made him feel seen. His grief carries layers that many LGBTQ+ people know too well: silence, invisibility, and the weight of a love the world didn’t always acknowledge.
Sara carries a different kind of quiet struggle living in darkness, navigating daily life with strength most people never notice. She isn’t a symbol or a device in this story; she’s a full human being with her own fears, memories, and stubborn hope.
This film honors both communities by letting them exist as they truly are:
vulnerable, complex, and deeply human.
Why This Story Matters Now
Supporting MY EYES is not just about supporting a film.
It’s about creating space for people who rarely see themselves reflected with care.
Sometimes a single phone call between two strangers who think they have nothing left can break through years of silence and isolation.
That’s what this story is about:
how being heard, even for a moment, can change something inside you.
A More Emotional Call to Action
When you back this project, you’re helping us tell a story that says:

Director’s Statement — MY EYES
“Tomorrow is promised to no one not the old, nor the young.”
Today might be the last time we see the ones we love.
So we must speak what lies in our hearts, and act upon what we truly believe.
And if my heart carried wounds today,
I would write my anger upon the ice, and fix my gaze upon the rising sun.
MY EYES is a tribute to a small, fragile, yet unforgettable moment
to those who fight darkness every single day,
yet still carry a light within themselves.
This film is about seeing
not with the eyes, but with the heart.
